What is a Heat Pipe Heat Sink?

A Heat Pipe Heat Sink is a heat transfer element with high thermal conductivity. It transfers heat through the evaporation and condensation of the working fluid in a fully enclosed vacuum envelope. The side heat transfer area can be changed arbitrarily, long-distance heat transfer, temperature control and a series of advantages. The disadvantage is that the oxidation resistance and high temperature resistance are relatively poor. However, this shortcoming can be solved by installing a set of ceramic heat exchangers in front, which can better solve the problems of high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.

The heat exchanger with the heat pipe as the heat transfer element has the advantages of high heat transfer efficiency, compact structure, small fluid resistance loss, and favorable control of dew point corrosion. At present, it has been widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry, machinery and other industries. As an energy-saving equipment for waste heat recovery and thermal energy utilization in the process, it has obvious economic benefits.

Introduction to the principle of Heat Pipe Heat Sink

A layer of absorbent core with porous capillary structure is embedded on the inner wall of the closed high vacuum tube or cylinder, and the interior is filled with liquid working medium. The external heat source inputs heat in the evaporation section to vaporize the working medium. The steam flows to the condensation section for condensation, and the released latent heat of vaporization is dissipated to the outside. The condensate indents into the liquid core and flows back to the evaporation section under the action of capillary pressure to complete the automatic circulation of the working medium.

Features of Heat Pipe Heat Sink

1. The Heat Pipe Heat Sink can completely separate the hot and cold fluids through the middle partition of the heat exchanger. When a single heat pipe is damaged due to wear, corrosion, over-temperature and other reasons during operation, it basically does not affect the operation of the heat exchanger. Heat Pipe Heat Sink is used in flammable, explosive and corrosive fluid heat exchange occasions, and has high reliability.

2. The cold and hot fluids of the Heat Pipe Heat Sink flow completely separately, which can easily realize the countercurrent heat exchange of the cold and hot fluids. Both hot and cold fluids flow outside the tube. Since the heat transfer coefficient of flow outside the tube is much higher than that of flow inside the tube, it is very economical to use in low-quality heat recovery applications.

3. For fluids with high dust content, the Heat Pipe Heat Sink changes the structure and expands the heating surface, which solves the problems of heat exchanger wear and dust blockage.

4. When the Heat Pipe Heat Sink is used for waste heat recovery of corrosive flue gas, the temperature of the heat pipe wall can be adjusted by adjusting the heat transfer area of the evaporation section and the condensation section, so that the heat pipe can avoid the largest corrosion area as much as possible.
