Inspection Test of new energy battery Water Cooling Plate

New energy vehicles are a state-supported development project which has developed rapidly in recent years. Electric vehicles and parts technology are also constantly innovating, and new processes and technologies are emerging in an endless stream. The field of heat dissipation is no exception. The critical point of heat dissipation in electric vehicles is its power battery pack and controller. Doing an excellent job of heat dissipation in these two parts is also a necessary guarantee for the stable operation of electric vehicle companies.


The battery cooling system of new energy vehicles mainly includes essential components such as batteries, battery coolers, and water cooling plates. And it's a necessary component of the thermal management system of new energy vehicles.


To ensure good thermal conductivity of the water-cooled plate, it is convenient to take away the heat generated by the battery to play a cooling role and consider the weight reduction of new energy vehicles. So, most water-cooled plates are made of aluminum alloy. The air-tightness test of the water-cooled plate generally adopts the helium test method, and the product needs to be put into a vacuum box for corresponding tests. The internal test pressure is usually 1Bar-6Bar. During the trial, the water-cooled plates inside must be evacuated first. And then, helium is introduced to carry out the corresponding helium detection test. Some manufacturers directly pass helium gas to discharge the air inside the water-cooled plate. And perform related tests after inflating and pressurizing. During the trial, sealing and connecting the two ends of the water-cooled scale, one inlet and one outlet, is necessary. Therefore, the internal air can be pumped out, and helium can be filled into the interior.



The water-cooled radiator has a water inlet and an outlet, and multiple water channels are inside the radiator. The advantages of water-cooling can be fully utilized, and more heat can be taken away. This is the basic principle of water-cooled radiators. Vibration and noise generated by the fans are also reduced by reducing the number of fans. Compared to the air-cooled system, the heat dissipation effect is much higher.



From the above-mentioned new energy battery water-cooled plate test method and the actual discussion process, it is easy to find that the water-cooled plate helium detection test quick sealing connection scheme has the following difficulties.



1. The helium inspection requirements are more precise than the general airtightness inspection. The quick seal joint must meet the helium inspection requirements for the sealing connection of the nozzle;

2. The product must be placed in a vacuum box for testing. There is no other driving power in the vacuum box except for the helium gas detection source and no fixture for joint installation in the vacuum box;

3. The wall thickness of the water-cooled plate pipe fittings is thin and made of aluminum alloy, which is prone to scratches. The lateral force when the manual joint is bent may cause the verticality of the water-cooled plate interface.




In response to the above problems, we recommend using G15 series pneumatic joints. The sealing performance meets the requirements of the helium test. The sealing ring will not produce indentations or scratches when it contacts the pipe wall. The air pressure expands the sealing ring to form a sealed connection without lateral force. Another problem that needs to be solved is that no driving air source is required for pneumatic joints in the vacuum box, which meets the complex test of new energy vehicle batteries, saves operating time, and improves detection efficiency.
